Pupil Premium & Catch-Up Premium

The pupil premium is additional funding given to publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.

It is paid to schools according to the number of pupils on the schools roll who have been:

  • registered as eligible for free school meals at any point in the last 6 years
  • been in care for 6 months or longer

At Becton School, many of the pupils on our roll are eligible for pupil premium, however, because the over-whelming majority of pupils are on roll with their mainstream school, we do not receive their pupil premium for those pupils. We only receive the pupil premium of the pupils who are fully on our roll. If a pupils is on role with us at the time of census and is entitled to pupil premium we will receive the money for them, however it is highly unlikely that they will be with us the following year.

As such we use pupil premium grant, if any is received that year, in a bespoke manner for the pupils that we have at the time. For more information please contact the Executive Headteacher James Gibson on jgibson@nexusmat.org
